Unit Plans

This unit plan was created for EDPR 3200 for a grade 6 class. This unit is important to me as it has a lot of the foundational elements that I consider a priority as an educator. It is one of my main goals in this career to encourage students to form their own opinions and be able to critically think about how our actions can have a powerful effect. With this unit I am offering a space for students to explore the difference between equity and equality, where we see a lack of it in society today, and what steps we can take to be more equitable for all. This unit is rooted in discussion rather than lecture so the students have the opportunity to explore their thoughts, feelings, and perhaps biases. They will be given a safe space to reflect via journalling and they will also collaborate with their peers. I have included this unit here as it represents what I aspire to be as an educator.
