The First Peoples Principles of Learning are one of if not the most important foundation of our education system. As we work towards decolonizing the system and children’s imaginations, the FPPL are a guiding post for educators. These principals are a resource for educators to refer to as lesson and unit planning takes place. They serve as a reminder that the content we teach should be rooted in understanding place, reflecting, and respecting all ways of knowing. Indigenizing education cannot happen without understanding the FPPL and recognizing their importance within the education system.
